This series is really cool. I just got a cheap vertical injection machine (aliexpress) and a nice (but old) industrial CNC mill and working out a nicer clamp on the bottom was what brought me here. Fun stuff!
@@JasonRogers-s3f thank you
The precision and detail this machine delivers are outstanding, especially with its 30W power, which handles a wide range of materials effortlessly. The setup was straightforward, and the user-friendly interface made it easy to start engraving almost immediately. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, the MONPORT GP 30 offers reliable performance and versatility that’s hard to beat. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their laser engraving work. I love this much!
Can you tell how do you calibrate your index sensor , couse mine does read but the process to synk is the trick
Thank you for the great video!
My pleasure!
Great video thank you!
Great video! I just purchased the rotary attachment. What settings are you using for it? I can't get it dialed in.
I did a rotary setup video on the Monport GP-30 setup is the same
@@CNC4XR7 Nice! I'll go check it out. Also which lens are you using?
@HNYBAGR24 stock lense on both units
Love this series!! No idea why its such low views after 5 years!
thank you
Love this vid! Thanks for the rundown! So if all those parameters are dialled in under the max tolerances how accurate will the machine be? (Repeatability accuracy?) Cheap cncs are approx 0.02mm Decent quality is approx 0.01mm (10microns) And precision machines (kern, etc) are under 0.005mm The kerns with hydrostatic bearings and temperature control to prevent thermal expansion have 0.002 - 0.003mm repeatability (2 - 3 micron!!) That's fkn crazy!!! Lol I need to build one for making watch parts, I need at least 0.008 repeatability for watch parts that will be flawless. It'd be great to know where your cheat sheet would put us at? I suspect if you get on those numbers we'd be talking a very precise machine similar to the Haas quality if not better. I'd love to hear some opinions!!
well if I ever get the machine finished I'll post the results. but this is a retrofitted machine not originally meant for CNC. but hoping for pretty good results.
Always loved your work
Thank you! Cheers!
hello, I have a question, mach3 lathe, will go to tool No 0 on M6, is there a way to fix that, i have it on autoamatic tool change, if I run that program on the mill it will change on the tool number tab, but in the lathe tab it wont,
did you ever had to do any work with the Z gibs?
No I haven't done anything since the original Conversion. This this amazes me. I routinely run parts for hours at a time. with no issues. last 2 days were 5 and 7 hours non stop.
Sir, I have another doubt..! Can We find or calculate the total travel distance of G-codes in mm/inch ?, I mean The total cumulative distance all 3 axis combined to finish a particular G-code...! I was thinking about how to charge for machining cost on a cnc router, based on axis intensity and distance...! simple 2.5D carving/grooving jobs and highly detailed relief carving jobs using all three axis are different very much , right? So combining all distances on all axis will give us the cumulative figure of distance 1.00hr running X and Y only for 2.5D Carving is different from 1.00hr running X and Y and Z for a relief carving So We have to consider all axis included in operation.! Is there any method for this type of calculation..! Is it complicated? or nonsense?!
in mach3 top under operator/ maintenance hours it will give you the distance traveled for each axis.
You haven't posted in a long time. Hope all is well.
Yes just super busy. Thank you
Merci infiniment pour cette initiation.
you are welcome
Hi Sam! ive been thinking about making the same sort of system for my mill, i dont think i understand the 2:1 ratio. So let's say for example my head up and down movement is 15 inches i would need, to be safe a spring that's like 8 or 9 inches of extension right?
Yes
@@CNC4XR7 Thanks!
This stuff is very hard to digest , I have not even been able to understand the concept, can you do a beginning level video explaining how tool change macro works, using two tools example, I have tried to study, but not at all getting the basics, please do explain, how the m code for tool change is handled by the controller and mach 3. And how and when the relay is turned on to release the tool from chuck and moving to New location and accepting New tool and all', can you explain in simple way, Mainly how to think, in a perspective of a 3 axis cnc router guy
I have several videos. On this subject.
Only because of the music
😂
This machine will kill you and make you hurt the whole time it kills you
Not for use by the novice. For sure
I'm back and forth a lot with my rotary table and the vice. Other than that, it's pretty much a wash.
It all depends on what your machining . To be honest.
Masso has a problem whit indexers ABC
Thank you for the information.
Sir please mach 3 tapping cycle tutorial ?
I no longer use tapping. I exclusively use a treadmill works very well.
Hey, can you please explain tool change on flatbed linear cnc ?
There are videos on this subject.
Great video. I'm trying to save this video but there is no "save" button. Do you know why?
I'm not sure but it should be in your watch history
What is the name of your old machine?

To much Money for that Little shit. U can do Better by urself
Thanks. Learning new skills on a budget.
Your welcome
Have you calculated the max shot you can do with this?
No not really however the tool forks are about half a shot.
Why not fill in the Dovetail area with steel bar stock machines to fit in the bevelled area and bolt them in place in a few places then machine those to fit the Linear rails to them.
That would work well however you need a machine large enough to do the machining.
@@CNC4XR7 all you need is a machine large enough to machine the smaller bar stock to fit in the dovetails to make it all the same height. you might be able to use a grind stone in a hand router to surface the top flat with the other surfaces. a machinist finds way to repair and machine out side the box that how it always been done back before all these NC machine, i worked for Linamar machines in the 1980's and did things to get the parts right that wasn't in the normal machining handbook and i worked on military missile and guns parts with machines that where at that time old manual milling and lathes. we used them to make the prototype PLC machines to build the missile parts where each operation was started by the last operating ending point.
Can I have the download link for the software you are using?
you can find it on the website. www.cnc4xr7.com
Can I run a lathe threading tool for a thread mill operation in milling.
I'm not sure I guess it depends on what the tool looks like.
Cuanto cuesta esta actualizacion para esta maquina?
Please email me for details. Cnc4xr7@gmail.com
I have a problem with my extruder not extruding. Tried cleaning it from both ends and this was after having replaced those tubings as mine broke. Thankful you have this video up.
Can you manually push filament through when hot? you may need to disassemble and heat with a torch then push trough a wire to force the burnt gunk out.
I have tried messaging Monport several times with zero response. If I understood correctly, standard m55 lenses will work on this machine with the adapter? Both in terms of focus, power, as well as 'it screws on'. I see no m39 lenses sold as accessories but also absolutely no mention on the site whatsoever that these GP machines can swap lenses. I just don't want to get stuck in too small of a work area as well as be detailed when I need it.
The GP 30 Has a wide enough range that i doubt you will need to swap the lenses. I have been using both of mine for various projects and have yet to swap the lenses. Even though I did purchase a couple different lenses for my 20 watt laser I have yet to install them. I have marked as small as print 2.5 mm to large objects like the Slate coaster project this Christmas. with no issues. So unless your certain you need a different lens I would not be too concerned about it. I like both Units. Power feed on Focus is nice. having the cabinet below is also nice the noisy is not at the level your sitting. Just personal preference.
oh man id love to buy a kit from you iof you still sell them I keep having a problem where that part you replaced pushes out from the extruder and its very annoying
I do have a couple kits left G mail me at my UA-cam name
If not for his voice, I'd think this was DSP reviewing drill presses (in the entirely mythical reality where he'd event remotely know how to use a power tool lol). The camera rocking is even present (though nowhere as extreme).
thanks I think! LOL
Kudos on the modification. You got a potato to record video and audio!
yes a long time ago
Most coolant in machine shops should be between 5 and 7 if your cutting aluminum higher is better. But. 6 is offel low in my opinion.
Yeah I try to stay in the middle around 6
Fantastic video. One question, you sanded down the top of the spindle to allow the top bearing to slide over the spindle with less effort. I am replacing the bearings on my PM833 which has an almost identical design. What is confusing me is that the top bearing fits very tightly on the spindle. How loose did you make it. Does it still have some friction when you slide on the top bearing?
Place the spindle in the freezer and put the bearings in the sun. That should do the trick
Thank You!@@CNC4XR7
This seems wort the price. How does it work with a part finder probe? Ill pribably ne buting this in the mext couole of weeks. Im usung tbe PA screen set, but i want more outa it.
Whats the frequency range?
Not sure if this is what your looking for but the wavelength is 1064nm more info on the Raycus laser can be found here. en.raycuslaser.com/view/2032.html
@CNC4XR7 oh I meant kHz freq. Not wavelength. Advertised it's 40-60, but I seen in your videos you running from 20-80. So I wasn't sure.
@nickmcdaniel610 yes I normally run @20
I’m very interested in your kit for the seig x2 if it will fit my wen
Most likely it will.
